NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday again questioned the Central government for not permitting him to attend a summit in Singapore, saying, “I am not a criminal”.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo has sought permission from the BJP-led Central government to attend World Cities Summit, 2022 on August 1.

Speaking to media persons outside the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, he said, “I am not a criminal. I am an elected CM of a state. It is beyond my understanding why I am being prohibited from visiting the World Cities Summit, Singapore. I think this visit would only bring more glory to India.”

“The Singapore government has invited me to tell the summit about the development that has happened in the field of health and education. The development model of Delhi will be presented before these world leaders,” he added.

The chief minister further said that the education and health model of Delhi has been appreciated by former US First Lady Melania Trump, former UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, and former Norway PM Gro Harlem Brundtland.

“I will put this development model in front of leaders. The central government should not stop this. This is not good,” he added.

On Sunday, CM Kejriwal wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi seeking approval to take part in the summit.

Meanwhile, AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Monday moved a suspension of Business notice to discuss the issue in the Rajya Sabha. On Sunday, he accused PM Modi of “doing everything possible to protect his fake model” from getting exposed on international forums.
