NEW DELHI: Pakistani sports presenter Zainab Abbas has allegedly been expelled from India due to a contentious matter. She has been instructed to depart the country as her old tweets, in which she had criticised India and the Hindu religion, surfaced online. Zainab Abbas is now reportedly in Dubai. Pakistan’s Samaa TV initially posted about Zainab’s purported deportation on X but has since removed the tweet.

An Indian attorney by the name of Vineet Jindal submitted a formal complaint to the BCCI regarding the 35-year-old news anchor after certain tweets critical of Hinduism, which she had posted a few years ago, came to light.

Taking to the microblogging site, X, Jindal wrote, “Complaint letter sent by @vineetJindal19 to @BCCI and @HMOIndia seeking removal of Zainab Abbas @ZAbbasOfficial as the presenter at the ICC World Cup 2023 for her derogatory and provocative posts against Bharat and Hindu Dharma. “Athiti devo bhava” is only for those who respect our country & Hindu Dharma but Anti Bharatiya are not welcome on Our Land.”
