ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Schedule out; India To Open Campaign Against Pakistan At MCG On October 23

NEW DELHI: On Friday, ICC has announced the schedule of the most awaited Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Like the previous edition, India will start the campaign against Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.

Australia is hosting the ICC Men’s Edition for the first time in their history. Host will play the opening match against England.

The schedule for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian Team matches at ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is as follows:

23rd Oct, India vs Pakistan, Melbourne Cricket Ground
27th Oct, India vs TBC, Sydney Cricket Ground
30th Oct, India vs South Africa, Perth Stadium
2nd Nov, India vs Bangladesh, Adelaide Oval
6 Nov, India vs Group B Winner, Melbourne Cricket Ground

In the history of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, arch-rivals India and Pakistan have faced each other six times, with India winning five of those matches.

A total of 45 matches will be played and seven cities will host matches across Australia.

Round 1 will begin from October 16 when former champions Sri Lanka take on Namibia. For the matches, 12 Teams are divided into two groups. Group 1 is made up of teams like England, New Zealand, Australia and Afghanistan. with India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh heading into Group 2.

The semi-finals will be played at the SCG and Adelaide Oval on November 9 and 10, respectively. The final of the mega event will be played on 13 November at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The list of venues that host the T20 World Cup 2022 is: Perth, Geelong, Adelaide, Hobart, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne

While announcing the schedule, ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said: “T20 is the global growth format for cricket and the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will play a huge role in inspiring our next generation of players and fans as the world’s best players descend on Australia and showcase the very best of our sport.”
