‘Create Khalistan within Canada’: Hindu group to Trudeau

NEW DELHI: Hindu activists organised a protest demonstration in Delhi on Sunday against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for harbouring and shielding Khalistan separatists in Canada.

Workers of the Hindu United Front (HUF) slammed PM Trudeau for his remarks against India and “falsely” linking New Delhi with the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada earlier this year.

During their protest at Jantar Mantar, the HUF members raised slogans such as “Khalistani murdabad” (death to Khalistanis). They also warned Canada to stop supporting Khalistani elements, or else India would take necessary action.

“If Canada is so sympathetic towards Terrorists and Khalistanis, then they can make Khalistan in Canada. We will support the move wholeheartedly,” said Jai Bhagwan Goyal, International executive president of the HUF.

Goyal also alleged that Trudeau is jealous of India’s growing stature in the world, and that is why he is supporting Khalistani elements. He also said that Trudeau’s alliance with New Democratic Party leader and Canadian MP Jagmeet Singh is the reason for his support of Khalistani elements.

“He has formed an alliance with Jagmeet Singh in Canada with the support of his 25 MPs and hence he is backing such elements,” Goyal said, alleging Singh to be a Khalistani sympathizer.

The HUF members also demanded that Canada hand over Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the chief of Sikhs for Justice (SJF), to India for him to face charges of terrorism.

They said that they would submit a memorandum to the Canadian embassy and mail a copy to Trudeau to voice their protest.

The HUF’s protest comes in the wake of Trudeau’s recent remarks on India. Trudeau’s remarks had been met with sharp criticism from the Indian government.

Alleging that Trudeau is jealous of the success of India’s G20 presidency and Indian PM Narendra Modi’s growing stature in the world, national vice-president Dharmendra Bedi said “The G20 that was organized under the leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has raised India’s stature in the world and hence Trudeau is jealous of India’s growing dominance.”
