NEW DELHI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday lashed out at Congress over an FIR filed by party MLA Kumar Jaimangal, alleging that three tainted Jharkhand MLAs lured him to meet the BP leader in order to topple the Hemant Soren government.

On Sunday, Jaimangal filed an FIR in Ranchi accusing now-sacked Congress MLAs Irfan Ansari, Naman Bixal Kongari, and Rajesh Kachchap of offering him Rs 10 crores to topple the JMM-led coalition government in Jharkhand.

The three MLAs were arrested with a huge amount of cash in Howrah, West Bengal on Saturday evening.

“Fake FIR in Jharkhand. The so-called FIR looks like Congress asking Ottavio Quattrocchi to file a case against Bofors”, Sarma said quoting a tweet of his Cabinet colleague Piyush Hazarika.

In his tweet, Hazarika shared pictures of Jaimangal, the MLA who lodged the FIR, with Sarma and Union coal and parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi.

He claimed that Jaimangal has been regularly meeting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“Kumar Jaimangal has been regularly meeting Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He should face the law for making a fraudulent allegation against Chief Minister of Assam and against those tribal MLAs,” the Assam minister said.

He further said, “Five days before filing the fabricated FIR, CM Himanta Sarma took him to the residence of the Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi at 9 am of 26th July, 2022 in order to help him in his trade union related matter.”
