Gurugram Uni Celebrates ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ By Organising Session On Women Empowerment

GURUGRAM: To mark “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary (SGT) University organised a session on ‘Women Empowerment’ in the university campus on Tuesday. The chief guest was Aman Preet, Indian Revenue Services (IRS), Joint Director, and Income Tax Department.

Madhupreet Kaur Chawla, Chairperson of the University; Manmohan Singh Chawla, Managing Trustee of Dashmesh Charitable Educational Trust; Dr OP Kalra, Vice Chancellor; Dr Navdeep Singh Tung, Pro VC; and several faculty members and students were present in the session.

Preet in here address said that during the Covid lockdown she got a call from a housemaid who needed ration and sanitary napkins. She said she told her to purchase the commodities from the village and she would transfer the amount to her account. However, the woman replied that napkins were not available in the village. “That was a matter of concern; I finally decided to help women of the rural area who are facing such a problem. I also took help from the most powerful tool of the modern era which is social media,” she said.

“My campaign got a very good response and even the youths also joined their hands and started helping those who were facing scarcity of basic but important needs. I took to social media to reach out to people in need,” Aman Preet added.

The Vice-Chancellor of the SGT University, Professor Dr OP Kalra welcomed the chief guest. A Natak (play) based on the theme of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ was also shown.
