SRINAGAR: In the heart of the picturesque landscape of Srinagar, the mercury plunged to a bone-chilling -5.4 °C on Wednesday, marking the lowest temperature recorded this season. The iconic Dal Lake, a jewel in the city’s crown, now wears a frozen veil, mirroring the starkness of the frigid conditions.

 

The cold snap has not spared essential infrastructure, as drinking water taps and supply pipes have frozen in numerous places, exacerbating water shortages.
