Father’s Day: Eggs To Hugs, Sachin To Vij Carry Tears Of Joy

NEW DELHI: It was a day to celebrate and cherish the sacrifices, care, and the unexpressed love of a father in a person’s life. A father’s love often goes unnoticed, but the millennials, as well as celebrities, made sure that their love doesn’t go unnoticed by their father on this Father’s Day.

Many celebrities took to their Twitter and Instagram handles to express their love for their fathers.

Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday shared a picture with his son Arjun Tendulkar on Twitter, “Had the best scrambled eggs in the world today made by Arjun. The creaminess, texture and consistency was so good! A breakfast filled with love…couldn’t have asked for more.”

Sachin also dedicated a video message to his father late Ramesh Tendulkar on Twitter. He said how his father supported him to become the man he is today.

Actress Anushka Sharma shared a picture of her father on Instagram, wherein he’s seen relaxed on a couch sitting beside a teddy bear. She also shared some of her memories with her father on her Instagram stories.

Indian opener Rohit Sharma shared a heartfelt message on Twitter, describing his experience as a father. “From the moment I became a Dad, keeping my lil girl safe is all I want. Whether I am her piggyback ride or her cradle, her safety is my responsibility. Being there for her is always my priority as it means the world to me,” Sharma tweeted.

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a picture with her father Randhir Kapoor on Instagram. Janhvi Kapoor shared a photo collage on her Instagram story to celebrate Father’s Day. Shweta Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan dedicated posts to the veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan on the occasion of Father’s Day.

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh announced his son’s birth on Twitter this Father’s Day. “Welcome to the world Orion Keech Singh. Mummy and Daddy love their little “puttar”. Your eyes twinkle with every smile just as your name is written amongst the stars,” he tweeted.

Like the celebrities, the common man too raised a toast to the superheroes of their lives.

Amay Chaturvedi, a seven year old boy, said that he made a card to wish his father, went grocery shopping and watched a movie with him to spend some quality time.

Alok Richhariya a 30-year-old software engineer said, “As I’m settled abroad, I don’t get the opportunity to visit my parents in India. I called my father in the morning to wish him Father’s Day as I really miss him and I think Father’s Day is the perfect day to express my love for him. I would really like to give him a tight hug as a gesture to show how much I love him.”

Moksha Mohla, a 20-year-old student, who’s away from her parents said that she really missed her dad this Father’s Day as she’s very close to her father. “I sent a cake to my father and video called to wish him. I couldn’t plan a grand celebration as I was away from home but I tried to make him feel special,” she added.

Father’s Day made Sheetal Gupta emotional as she lost him during the COVID period.

“My father meant a lot to me. It’s unfortunate that COVID took him away. I just close my eyes and all I see is happy memories with him,” the 38-year-old housewife said. “I just stayed in my dad’s room. It made me feel at home. I miss my dad a lot. He is not physically present with me right now. I’m happy with the memories I have with him. I’ll always cherish it for the rest of my life,” Gupta recalled the fond memories.

A generational difference means not many are comfortable celebrating the day. However, their children ensured that they acknowledge the day and celebrate the sacrifices their father made.

Shubhda Chaturvedi, a 36-year-old housewife, said, “We don’t celebrate Father’s Day as my father is not familiar and comfortable with these kinds of occasions. Moreover, I think that it’s not about a specific day but it’s about the efforts made and the sacrifices that my father made to fulfil my needs.”

Om Dwivedi, a 20-year-old college student, shared similar views and said that people shouldn’t limit the celebration to just one specific day but express their love every single day. “People should strive to become better people in life and make our parents proud, especially the father. To truly celebrate a father’s achievement will be to become a good father to the future generation,” Dwivedi added.
