Gaurav, garv, swabhiman hai, Ram samane virajman hai: Ramdev in Ayodhya

NEW DELHI: On the grand event of Ram temple’s consecration ceremony, many dignitaries including lyricist and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi, Yoga guru and businessman Ramdev Baba, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak, Indian Olympic Association’s (IOA) President PT Usha, singer Malini Awasthi and several others graced the event.

The New Indian’s Executive Editor Rohan Dua, who was officially invited to the ceremony, spoke to many of them, gauging their feelings on being present at the monumental occasion. Expressing pride in the construction in the newly built temple, Ramdev baba told TNI, “It is a matter of pride and self-respect that Lord Ram is enthroned in front of us.”

President of IOA and athlete PT Usha expressed her happiness for being invited to such a cherished moment. “I am very happy to be present here today at the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya,” she said.

RSS’ joint head of media and publicity Sunil Ambekar also beamed with joy for getting to witness such a historic day. He said, “There is a lot of pride. We are very happy and the nation is rejoicing in joy.”

At the ceremony, which was performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on January 22, Dua also spoke to Indian lyricist and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi. The lyricist, filled with pride and devotion, said “Dekh rahe hum Ram ko aate, janam safal ho raha humara(We are witnessing the arrival of Lord Ram, the purpose of being born on this planet is getting fulfilled).

“Ram is eternal. We can only surrender ourselves to Him. And keep in mind, if you do then your welfare will be taken care of by Lord Ram himself. It is our fortune that we are here to witness this auspicious day.”

Janata Dal Secular (JDS) leader and former Karnataka CM H.D. Kumaraswamy, said, “It is a historic day in our lives by taking the blessings of Lord Ram.” He also affirmed his party’s alliance with the BJP, while his son Nikhil, who is an actor and a politician, said, “It is a big day for our country today. We waited 500 years for this day to arrive. It is a proud moment and we are honoured to be present here in Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony.”

UP Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak who was also present at the ceremony, described the environment of the event as ‘spectacular’. He said, “Under the direction and leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Lord Ram has finally arrived in his court in Ayodhya. The entire universe is in a jovial mood.”

Singer Malini Awasthi proclaimed that this event marks the establishment of a New India. “It’s a divine experience and our younger generation should learn history because this is a once in a lifetime event. I am grateful to our ancestors who have contributed for building this,” she said.
