New Delhi: Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and party spokesperson Rituraj Govind has landed in controversy after a video surfaced showing him allegedly consuming alcohol inside a car. The clip has gone viral on social media, including platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, and is being widely circulated in Resident Welfare Association (RWA) groups of Kirari, the constituency he previously represented.

What the Video Shows:
In the footage, Rituraj is seen sitting inside a parked car with another man. When a person approaches and opens the car door, the duo quickly shuts it again. Social media users and political opponents are now accusing him of consuming alcohol in a public place, which could potentially violate Delhi’s prohibition laws if proven true.

AAP Silent, BJP Seizes Opportunity:
While Rituraj has not yet responded to the allegations, attempts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful as he did not answer calls. The AAP has also remained silent on the matter so far.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and right-wing groups have seized the opportunity to target AAP, using the video to question the party’s moral standing. BJP leaders have been sharing the clip, demanding an explanation from AAP and accusing its leaders of hypocrisy.

Background:
Rituraj Govind served as the MLA from Kirari but lost in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections. He has been an active spokesperson for AAP, often defending the party on public platforms.

As the video continues to spark debates, political observers are watching whether AAP will take disciplinary action or if Rituraj will issue a clarification. The controversy adds to the growing list of viral political scandals ahead of upcoming elections.
