New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva expressed gratitude towards the city’s traders for suspending business activities today in solidarity with the central government’s stringent actions against terrorism. The move comes in response to the brutal killing of 27 innocent civilians by Muslim terrorists in Pahalgam.

Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal joined an anti-terrorism march organized by the Delhi Hindustani Mercantile Association, the apex body of cloth traders, during a complete shutdown in Chandni Chowk and Old Delhi’s wholesale markets. The march saw participation from trade associations representing groceries, dry fruits, chemicals, grains, iron, stationery, and electrical goods, alongside BJP leaders including Delhi BJP Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor and former councillors Suman Kumar Gupta and Satish Jain.

Addressing the gathering, MP Praveen Khandelwal praised the traders, stating, “Whenever the nation has faced a crisis, Delhi’s and India’s traders have extended their full support—both morally and financially. I salute their patriotism.”

He highlighted that traders voluntarily shut down businesses to endorse the government’s tough stance against Pakistan-backed terrorism, without any political prompting. Markets in areas like Daryaganj, Jama Masjid, Chawri Bazaar, Nai Sadak, Lal Kuan, Khari Baoli, Sadar Bazaar, and Mori Gate observed a complete strike, halting trade worth over ₹1,500 crore.

“By sacrificing business worth ₹1,500 crore in a single day, Delhi’s traders have proven that national security matters more to them than profits,” Khandelwal asserted. The protest underscored the traders’ unwavering commitment to the nation amidst rising security challenges.
