Kamlapur, Chhattisgarh/New Delhi: In South Bastar, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has established a new Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Kamlapur village under Usoor police station limits in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The FOB has been set up by the 229 Battalion in one of the most remote and Maoist-sensitive regions of the state.

Officials said the newly established base will strengthen the security grid in the interior core Special Operational Zone (SOZ), improve area domination, and enable swift and effective responses to security threats.

The CRPF presence is also expected to assist the local administration in maintaining law and order while creating a safer environment for residents.

Despite severe logistical challenges due to the difficult terrain and remoteness of the location, the FOB was established without any injury or casualty.

The FOB has been secured with a three-layer security system, supported by extensive CCTV surveillance for round-the-clock monitoring of the surrounding area. Aerial surveillance using drones is also being carried out to prevent any untoward incidents. Security officials said the base will play a pivotal role in disrupting Maoist supply routes, restricting the movement of armed cadres, and consolidating state presence in the region.

FOB Kamlapur is expected to plug a long-standing security vacuum in the interior Maoist core zone covering villages such as Rekhapalli, Marudbaka, Pawarguda, Tumrel, Kamlapur, and adjoining Naxal-affected areas where regular Maoist movement had been reported. The establishment of the camp is also aimed at facilitating the integration of the local population into the mainstream and promoting peace and development.

The FOB was inaugurated by B.S. Negi, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), CRPF Range Bijapur, in the presence of Bijapur Superintendent of Police Dr. Jitender Yadav, Commandant Brajesh Kumar Singh (229 Battalion), Commandant Amit Kumar (153 Battalion), Commandant Pushpendra Singh (206 CoBRA), and Commandant Ashok (210 CoBRA).

During his visit to Kamlapur village, DIGP Negi interacted with local residents and assured them that the establishment of the camp would usher in peace, prosperity, and security in the area.

A Chalit Thana (mobile police station) was also organised by SDOP Awapalli Tileshwar Yadav to enable villagers to voice their concerns directly to the administration.

In addition, a medical camp was organised as part of the outreach initiative, during which free health check-ups were conducted and medicines distributed to villagers.

Officials said the establishment of FOB Kamlapur marks another important milestone in the CRPF’s sustained efforts to restore peace, stability, and development in Maoist-affected regions of Chhattisgarh.
