NEW DELHI: With a bid to revive its sagging fortunes ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress on Saturday said that it proposes to bring in a measure to ensure 50 per cent representation to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs and minorities at all levels of the party organisation.

On the second day of its Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Congress also said that it plans proportionate representation to the youth in the party.

Talking to the media along with senior party leader Salman Khurshid, party leader K Raju said, “A decision on bringing in a measure to ensure 50 per cent representation to the SCs, STs, OBCs and minorities at all levels of the party has been taken by the panel on social justice and empowerment.”

“The decision by the panel is likely to be recommended for approval of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), party’s highest decision making body,” he said.

The Congress leader said that the panel is also likely to propose establishing a social justice advisory council to the Congress president which will look at issues and give recommendations to the party chief.
