KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the cattle smuggling case on Monday.

The TMC leader has been asked to appear before the agency’s office in Kolkata at 11 am for questioning.

Mondal has already appeared before the agency on two occasions in the case.

The summons coincided with the CBI raids at several places in West Bengal’s Birbhum.

In June this year, the CBI arrested Mondal’s personal security Saigal Hossain.

The case pertains to illegal trade of cattle along the India-Bangladesh border in several border areas in West Bengal. Some officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) are also named in the FIR.
