Special Commissioner of Police (south zone) Sagarpreet Hooda told the media that two out of three most awaited forensic reports have been received by the investigators. This will certainly help in speeding up the investigations in Shraddha Walker murder case.
“We have recieved DNA and polygraph reports. Both the reports will be helpful in our investigations,” said Hooda.
Native of Maharashtra, 27-year-old Shraddha was murder by her live-in partener Aaftab Amin Poonawala in South Delhi’s Mehrauli in the month of May. He also chopped her body parts in 35 pieces and dumped them in Mehrauli’s Chattarpur jungles.
The matter came to fore only after Sharddha’s father approached Police for his missing daughter as her mobile phone gone switched off. Aaftab was arrested in November where he confessed to the crime.
For the Delhi Police, despite the workout of the case, the collection of forensic evidence became very difficult as the murder happened six months ago.
On the instances and basis of confession by Aaftab, investigators collected 13 body parts including a broken jaw from Mehrauli jungles. It was sent for the forensic examination at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) where it got matched with Shraddha.
The Police had taken Shraddha’s father and brother blood samples to match their DNA with the recovered human body parts from the jungles.
Delhi police sources said the DNA samples have been matched with her father and brothers DNA. Besides, the polygraph test report on Aaftab has also come positive.
Aaftab had to undergo polygraph test where he was asked questions in ‘yes’ and ‘no’. He was asked about two dozen of questions ranging from accepting the act of murder that he allegedly committed. Police said in polygraph test he had accepted to kill Shraddha. His test was conducted in Delhi Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
Hooda said the report of Narco analysis test is yet to recieve. He said all these reports will be helpful in police investigations. It was later submitted to the courts.
According to the police, Aftab would often beat her up during their stay in Mumbai. She had informed her mother and friends about the repeated assaults on her, but never filed any complaint with the police.
