In an inhumane incident, a 49-year-old man killed his own minor son by throwing him into a raging river on the suspicion that he was an illegitimate child, in Supaul district of Bihar.

Ganesh Yadav, the father, later confessed to the crime and was arrested by the police.

The horrific incident came to light late on Tuesday night in Phulwaria village of Kishanpur area when locals complained to the police against him.

As per the police, Yadav tied the hands and legs of the 7-year-old innocent boy and threw him into Kosi, anticipating that the overflowing river would wash the child somewhere away from the area and no one would know.

However, suspicion rose among the neighbours of the Yadav family after they did not spot the child for nearly three days. As murmurs grew, the child’s mother, Mundrika Devi, informed the villagers that her husband could be behind the disappearance and pleaded for their help to recover her son.

A complaint was filed with the local police and the man was taken into custody. During interrogation, he confessed to his crime and revealed the motive.

Acting swiftly, the district administration called in a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), which launched a rescue operation and recovered the body.

A post-mortem examination was conducted and the body was handed over to his mother, the police said.

During interrogation, the accused said that child was “illegitimate” and that he had no regrets.

In a video, the man said that he decided to end the life of the minor boy when he saw his wife with another man.

Under an elaborate plan, he took the boy to a market on the pretext of getting him registered for an Aadhar card and killed the innocent child.

The police have charged him with murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
