NEW DELHI: The Indian Army announced that the gunfire aimed at a military convoy in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri was ineffective, with troops reacting promptly to the attack.
An official from the Army informed The New Indian that terrorists had targeted a convoy in Sunderbani, Akhnoor, on Wednesday.
However, the gunfire had no impact, and soldiers retaliated swiftly, the official stated. He further dismissed certain social media reports falsely claiming casualties among personnel.
“This is misleading and deliberate misinformation, while search operations are currently in progress to track down the attackers,” the official emphasized.
According to sources, an army vehicle was fired upon by terrorists in a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district on Wednesday.
The terrorists, suspected to be hiding in a dense forest, opened sporadic fire at the passing convoy in an area known for infiltration attempts.
Troops immediately retaliated, and additional reinforcements were deployed to eliminate the attackers, the officials added.
