“Say Sorry For Remarks”, Farmers Hold BJP Neta Hostage

ROHTAK: In a dramatic turn of events, BJP leader Manish Grover and other party leaders were held hostage by farmers in Kiloi village of Rohtak district on Friday.

The farmers who have been protesting against the three farm laws are demanding an apology from Grover for making objectionable statements against them recently.

In view of the incident, heavy police security was deployed.

Reports say the farmers have held Grover hostage for over 6 hours in the temple.

Senior police officials from the region and neighbouring areas of Sonipat and Jhajjar have rushed to the spot to speak to the farmers and normalise the situation.

The farmers say they won’t release Grover until he issues an apology.

Eventually, Grover apologised to the farmers with folded hands, following which he and others were allowed to leave the temple premises.

The incident comes after BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra was gheraoed by farmers in Narnaund who also broke the windshield of his car. Police had to resort to a mild lathi charge to disperse the irate protesters following which some of them were detained. Some farmers were injured during the clash.

Agitated by the detention of their members, the farmers blocked the Delhi-Sirsa highway near Ramayan toll.
