The Calcutta High Court has ordered jailed TMC leader Anubrata Mondal’s daughter Sukanya, who was an assistant school teacher of Kalikapur primary school in Bolpur,  to appear before the court with her Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) certificate at 3 pm on Thursday.

Lawyer Firdous Shamim filed a case against Sukanya alleging that Mondal’s daughter never qualified for TET, which is mandatory to get a school teacher’s job. The matter was raised by Shamim in the High Court. Shamim’s case against Sukanya also names five more family members and close aides of Anubrata Mondal, who allegedly got a primary school teacher’s job without qualifying for the exam.

It rattled people after they came to know that Sukanya never went to the school which is situated at a distance of mere 5-10 minutes from Mondal’s residence in Bolpur. The school administration allegedly used to bring the registration book to her house, where she marked herself present as a teacher.

As per Calcutta High Court Justice Avijit Ganguly’s direction, Sukanya and all the five others named in the case have to be present with their TET certificates on Thursday. If the order is violated, it might invite further action against them. The High Court has informed the Birbhum Police Superintendent that all six needed to be present on Thursday.

On Wednesday morning, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) went to Sukanya’s residence but could not question her after she stated that her mental condition was not stable, following her mother’s death and father’s custody.
