NEW DELHI: In an electrifying address at the 69th national conference of ABVP, the student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Home Minister Amit Shah expressed profound admiration for the spirited slogans resonating with ‘student power, nation power.’

Against the backdrop of India’s recent celebration of 75 years of independence, Shah took pride in the monumental strides the country has taken. He underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary goal of propelling India to greatness in the next 25 years. “I can say with certainty that I am the organic product of ABVP,” remarked Shah.

Recalling the contributions of Madan Das Devi, a stalwart in steering youth away from the wrong path, Shah passionately proclaimed, “Nobody will stop you from hoisting the Indian flag in Lal Chowk in Kashmir today.”

Shah also illuminated India’s multifaceted achievements across various sectors. The recent completion of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple and the ongoing progress of ambitious projects like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Somnath temples were highlighted. These projects, Shah emphasised, are not just infrastructural developments but manifestations of India’s cultural resurgence.

“One of our distinguished leaders, back in 1990, vowed to only taste sweets once the Ram Mandir temple is constructed on the Ram Janambhoomi, on the exact place where it was demolished. Fast forward to January 22, 2024, and he will indeed savor the moment. Not limited to just the Ram Mandir, significant projects like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Somnath temples are also taking shape which were destroyed during Auranzeb’s era.

India excels in the production of milk, textiles, shoes, and railway engines. It ranks second in mobiles, steel, cotton tea, and is poised to climb to the second spot in startup and motor vehicle production soon.” he shared.

Transitioning to higher education, Shah acknowledged the transformative initiatives since 2014. This includes the establishment of new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), medical colleges, and universities. The Home Minister emphasised the importance of regional languages in medical education, a step towards making education accessible and inclusive.

“In higher education, since 2014, numerous achievements have been accomplished under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This includes the establishment of seven new IITs, 16 new IIITs, and the creation of 15 new AIIMS. Additionally, 273 medical colleges and 390 universities have been established. The credit for setting up over 7,000 colleges goes to Prime Minister Modi,” Shah remarked.

In a nod to India’s thriving startup ecosystem, Shah lauded the remarkable growth, with over two lakh startups and 111 unicorn startups. This progress is particularly noteworthy given the significant contribution from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, reflecting the decentralisation of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
