NEW DELHI: Maharashtra MLA and Shiv Sena (UBT) supremo’s son Aaditya Thackrey has knocked the door of Bombay High Court challenging a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that seeks Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe on Thackrey’s involvement in the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his former manager Disha Salian.

Thackeray filed an application on October 13 through advocate Rahul Arote. Rahul said that the PIL was not maintainable as there is already an ongoing probe by the state machinery. Arote said, “We have filed an intervention application saying we should be heard before any order is passed. We have said the PIL is not maintainable as the investigation in the Sushant Singh Rajput matter is already on by the CBI.”

“How can any order be passed in a PIL when a state machinery is already seized of the probe,” he added.

The President of ‘Supreme Court & High Court Litigants Association of India’, Rashid Khan Pathan, filed the PIL in September on behalf of his association demanding the immediate arrest and custodial interrogation of Thackeray in connection with the deaths of Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rajput was found dead on June 14, 2020, in his apartment in suburban Bandra. Subsequently, the Mumbai police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) case and started a probe, the actor’s father in July lodged a complaint with the Bihar police alleging that Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family members had abetted his suicide.

The case generated a lot of heat and for months, it was the topic of every debate in the country. While more than three years have passed, the actor’s name still appears in the trending section of X regularly.
