New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday accused the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh of orchestrating a “massive recruitment scam” that denies Dalits, OBCs, and Adivasis their rightful share of government jobs while allegedly favouring upper-caste candidates.

Citing specific instances, Singh alleged that at Banda Agricultural University, 11 out of 15 posts were filled by candidates from the Thakur community, with only two going to Dalits and OBCs. Similarly, in the Lakhimpur Cooperative Bank recruitment, 15 of 27 positions went to Thakurs, four to general-category candidates, and just eight to Dalits, OBCs, and Adivasis.

“Prime Minister Modi calls himself a leader of OBCs, yet he remains silent while Dalits, OBCs, and Adivasis are being robbed of their rightful share in UP,” Singh said, accusing the BJP of undermining the Constitution and working to “end reservation altogether.”

In a video statement, the AAP leader charged that recruitment scams and exam paper leaks in Uttar Pradesh have left lakhs of job-seeking youth disillusioned. “Instead of employment, they are being met with police batons. Were the youth of Uttar Pradesh born only to be beaten by lathis?” he asked, highlighting alleged repression in cities such as Prayagraj, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi.

Singh argued that caste-based bias in recruitment was deepening resentment across communities. “The Chief Minister and his favourites are filling jobs with candidates from their own caste. They think this will make them stronger, but by sidelining 80–85% of other communities, they are creating anger and division,” he said.

He also questioned whether favouritism benefitted the wider Thakur community. “By giving 15 out of 27 jobs to his own caste, is the Chief Minister benefitting the entire Thakur community? No. Instead, he is making them the target of resentment from other communities,” Singh claimed.

Extending his attack to the BJP and RSS, Singh alleged that the ruling party’s “larger agenda” was to dismantle reservations. “The RSS has existed for a century, yet not one of its chiefs has come from OBC, Dalit, or Adivasi communities. How can we expect such an organisation to ensure justice?”

Demanding urgent action, Singh called on the Uttar Pradesh government to order a probe, send those guilty of manipulating recruitments to jail, and ensure full implementation of the reservation policy.
