New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Women’s Wing hosted a vibrant Hariyali Teej celebration at the Nizamuddin West Community Centre on Friday, featuring cultural performances, mehendi, and traditional cuisine.

Sunita Kejriwal, wife of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, inaugurated the event alongside Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj and Women’s Wing President Sarika Chaudhary.

Addressing the gathering, Sunita Kejriwal extended festive greetings but criticized the BJP-led central government for failing to fulfill its promise of providing ₹2,500 per month to women in Delhi. She also accused the government of imposing new restrictions on the free bus travel scheme for women. “The BJP had assured financial assistance but has not delivered. Now, they are adding conditions to the free bus service, making life harder for Delhi’s women,” she said.

Reflecting on the festival’s significance, Kejriwal called it a celebration of love and unity, urging women to embrace the joyous occasion. She emphasized AAP’s commitment to social service, stating, “Despite the challenges, we must continue supporting those in need.”

The event saw participation from Anita Singh, wife of Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, MLA Kuldeep Kumar, and a large number of women. The celebration highlighted cultural performances and traditional festivities, even as political criticisms took center stage.

The BJP has yet to respond to AAP’s allegations regarding the unfulfilled financial assistance and changes to the free bus travel scheme.
