AAP MP Raghav Chadha criticises BJP for ED’s summon to Delhi CM Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday regarding the summons that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had sent to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding the liquor excise policy scam on October 30.

The Rajya Sabha MP said that this is a strategy by the BJP to eliminate Kejriwal by putting him in jail and simultaneously win the 7 Lok Sabha seats of Delhi in 2024. He said, “BJP’s plan is – Arvind Kejriwal ko jail me daalo, 7 seat Delhi ki apni jeb me daalo (Put Arvind Kejriwal behind bars and win 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi).”

Chadha asserted that Arvind Kejriwal will be arrested by “agencies of the BJP” and said “Delhi has 7 Lok Sabha seats. We all know that if the INDIA bloc contests the Lok Sabha elections, BJP is going to lose all seven seats in Delhi. This has made the ruling party so fearful that it is now planning to arrest the opposition leader and first on the list is Arvind Kejriwal.”

The comments made by Raghav Chadha came a day after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal received a summon by the ED regarding the Delhi liquor policy scandal, which has resulted in the arrests of AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh.

AAP leader Atishi has also said that there are reports that the ED will arrest Kejriwal following his questioning by the law agency on November 1. “There are reports that Kejriwal will be arrested on November 2. If he is arrested, it won’t be because of corruption (charges) but because he has spoken against the BJP,” Atishi said.

Furthermore, Raghav Chadha also said that the BJP is targeting leaders of other states as well. He claimed that the next target of the BJP would be Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM chief Hemant Soren since his popularity is becoming a problem for the BJP.

He stated, “The popularity of Hemant Soren started increasing in Jharkhand ever since he became the Chief Minister. The BJP that won 14 out of 19 seats in Jharkhand in the 2019 general elections will not even win 4 seats in the state in 2024. This is why they would arrest Hemant Soren next.”
