AAP launches ‘Main Bhi Kejriwal’ campaign to decide Delhi CM’s fate

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal challenged the ED to arrest him post MP elections

NEW DELHI: Following concerns regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal being imprisoned coming to the fore, the Aam Aadmi Party started the ‘Main Bhi Kejriwal’ signature campaign in Delhi on Friday, in the presence of state Convenor and Minister Gopal Rai.

The campaign was kicked off through a door-to-door campaign in Laxmi Nagar.

Rai voiced concerns about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) alleged intent to arrest Kejriwal, citing fears related to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He stated, “We conducted a door-to-door campaign, asking people if there was an arrest, should Arvind Kejriwal resign or continue leading the government from jail.”

Rai disclosed that the public response was steadfast, asserting Kejriwal’s contributions to public welfare, stating, “Kejriwal has significantly served the public. Therefore, the consensus was that he should not resign but continue governing from jail. People firmly believe that these arrests are part of a larger agenda, and in such a scenario, resignation is unwarranted.”

Expressing concern over the alleged targeting of AAP leaders, Rai stated, “The unjust implication of party leaders, from Satyendar Jain to Manish Sisodia and now Sanjay Singh, indicates a conspiracy to arrest Arvind Kejriwal.”

Addressing the audience, Rai said, “On the campaign’s inaugural day, our door-to-door interactions in Laxmi Nagar revealed overwhelming support for the CM’s commendable work, including provisions for free electricity, water, healthcare, education, women’s bus travel, and pilgrimage facilities for the elderly. Consequently, the public stance is clear: Kejriwal should not resign in the face of these arrests orchestrated under a dubious agenda.”

During the campaign’s course, Rai highlighted that it would outline plans for AAP workers to cover the 2,600 polling stations across Delhi.

The door-to-door campaign is scheduled to continue till December 20, which will be followed by meetings across all 250 wards from December 21 to 24. These are aimed at engaging with the public to gather opinions regarding the future functioning of the Delhi government. These opinions are slated to be compiled into a report and submitted to Kejriwal.
