AAP Alleges Corruption In Construction Of Railway Underbridge

AAP MLA and MCD In-charge Durgesh Pathak

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-run Municipal Corporation of Delhi has done a ‘flagrant’ corruption by exceeding the dateline of the construction of railway underbridge in the Sadar Bazar area in the national capital.

The AAP leader Durgesh Pathak said MCD sanctioned a bridge with a budget of Rs 55 crore in 2006, but despite spending 87 crores the bridge hasn’t been completed even in 2022.

The railway underbridge was to be built by 2010 in the Sadar Bazar area of Kishanganj, Delhi, but the construction started only in 2022.

Pathak said corruption is taking place under the nose of PM Narendra Modi. The bridge should be built as soon as possible and the corrupt officers should be arrested.

MCD has been with BJP for the past 15 years. Recently BJP ruled the central government has merged all three MCDs and dissolved the house. An IAS level officer is looking after the work of MCD.

Pathak, while addressing the media said, “The corruption under PM Modi seems to be only growing. PM Modi’s BJP-ruled MCD is betraying the people of Delhi. Whatever work MCD announces, ends up becoming a victim of corruption.”

He said, “Back in 2006 when there was talk of holding the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, many development projects were sanctioned in Delhi. At the same time, a railway underbridge was to be built in the area of Sadar Bazar of Kishanganj located in the Wazirpur assembly. The construction of the bridge was to be started in 2006. It was to be inaugurated in 2010. A 4-box bridge was to be built, but today in 2022, work is going on only on the first box.”

He further demanded that “this matter needs to be investigated.”
