New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded a high-level probe into allegations that former BJP mayor Jai Prakash illegally acquired government land and constructed a multi-storey building on it.

The accusations follow a Lokayukta report that found irregularities in the transfer and use of a Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) property in Sadar Bazar.

At a press conference, Ankush Narang, Leader of Opposition in the MCD, claimed that Jai Prakash misused his position to transfer the land—meant for license-based occupation—to his son’s name, violating legal provisions. “Government land cannot be sold to individuals, yet Jai Prakash allegedly manipulated records to show a purchase from license holders,” Narang said.

Despite police challans and a DUSIB notice under Section 41 declaring the construction illegal, the building work reportedly continued. The Lokayukta has now directed the Lieutenant Governor to ensure action is taken, possibly involving the police or Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

AAP has called for immediate investigation and strict action to prevent misuse of power by public representatives. The BJP has not yet responded to the allegations.
