New Delhi: In a bid to combine environmental protection with livelihood opportunities, the Mann Government has launched a fresh initiative by distributing e-rickshaws to needy families. Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur handed over e-rickshaws to 15 beneficiaries in Malout constituency, calling it a “ray of hope” for families battling economic hardships.
Dr. Kaur said the Mann Government is committed to eradicating poverty and unemployment from Punjab. “No family should remain helpless. Every household must get the chance to stand on its own feet,” she stated, adding that the e-rickshaw scheme provides not only income but also dignity and self-respect.
The scheme is being hailed for its dual impact. On one hand, it empowers poor and working-class families with a sustainable livelihood; on the other, it promotes clean mobility. E-rickshaws, being pollution-free, reduce reliance on expensive fuels while ensuring eco-friendly transportation.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Dr. Baljit Kaur, sharing that they now have a stable source of income to meet daily household needs. “This has given us confidence and courage to live with dignity,” said one of the recipients.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to development rooted in empowerment rather than dependence. Officials emphasized that this is not a symbolic gesture but part of a broader mission to build a self-reliant Punjab.
Assuring continued support, Dr. Kaur noted, “The Mann Government will keep introducing schemes for the poor and working class. Our goal is to make every citizen of Punjab self-reliant and empowered.”
By linking livelihood with environmental responsibility, the Punjab Government has strengthened its image as a “people’s government” working actively at the grassroots level.
