NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-day visit to Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar from September 13 to 15, during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth over ₹71,850 crore.

The visit underscores the government’s focus on regional connectivity, infrastructure growth, cultural integration, and farmer welfare.

Key Highlights of the Visit

  • Mizoram (September 13):
    PM will launch and lay the foundation stone of projects worth over ₹9,000 crore in Aizawl. The centrepiece is the inauguration of the Bairabi-Sairang New Rail Line (₹8,070 crore), linking Mizoram to the Indian Railways network for the first time. He will also flag off three new trains including the Sairang–Delhi Rajdhani Express. Road projects such as the Aizawl Bypass Road and Thenzawl–Sialsuk Road will improve connectivity, while initiatives in sports, energy, and education—including a Khelo India indoor hall and residential schools—will boost social infrastructure.

  • Manipur (September 13):
    At Churachandpur, the PM will lay the foundation of projects worth over ₹7,300 crore, including Manipur Urban Roads and five National Highway projects. In Imphal, he will inaugurate development works worth ₹1,200 crore, including the Civil Secretariat, IT SEZ building, new Police HQ, Manipur Bhawans, and the unique all-women Ima Markets.

  • Assam (September 13–14):
    The PM will join the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in Guwahati on September 13. The next day, he will launch projects worth over ₹18,530 crore, including a medical college, Guwahati Ring Road, and a major bioethanol and polypropylene plant at Numaligarh Refinery, supporting clean energy and employment.

  • West Bengal (September 15):
    In Kolkata, PM Modi will inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference, a high-level military forum themed “Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future”.

  • Bihar (September 15):
    In Purnea, the PM will launch the National Makhana Board to boost production, exports, and branding of Bihar’s signature crop. He will inaugurate the new terminal building of Purnea Airport and unveil development projects worth ₹36,000 crore, including Bihar’s largest private thermal power project at Bhagalpur (₹25,000 crore), the Kosi-Mechi River Link Project, and multiple rail connectivity projects such as the Bikramshila–Katareah rail line and Araria–Galgalia line. He will also flag off Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express trains.

The visit will further witness the inauguration of a Sex Sorted Semen Facility in Purnea, distribution of funds under PMAY (Rural & Urban), and ₹500 crore under DAY-NRLM.

By addressing infrastructure gaps, energy security, rail and road connectivity, and farmers’ welfare, these projects are expected to significantly boost economic, cultural, and social development across eastern and northeastern India.
