New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Anand Parbat team has successfully solved a mobile theft case with the help of UPI transaction tracking, CCTV analysis, and local intelligence.
Three suspects—identified as Rahul (19), Pravesh (21), and Mahaveer (20)—all residents of Taliwalan Basti, Anand Parbat, were arrested for stealing a mobile phone and fraudulently transferring Rs. 64,800 through UPI payments.
The case came to light on July 24 when the victim filed a complaint at Anand Parbat Police Station. Investigators discovered that the thieves had transferred Rs. 5,100 via UPI to a shopkeeper in Karol Bagh, who later provided crucial video evidence of the transaction. This breakthrough led police to Pravesh, whose subsequent interrogation revealed the involvement of two accomplices.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central District) Nidhin Valsan, IPS, confirmed the arrests and stated that efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen items. The case highlights the increasing role of digital evidence in solving street crimes in the capital.
