Financial Insecurity Behind the Crime

While initial media speculation pointed to social media videos as the reason for the altercation, Gurugram Police clarified that the motive was rooted in long-standing financial and emotional tensions within the family. Investigators revealed that Deepak Yadav, a retired police officer, felt increasingly insecure and humiliated over his perceived dependency on his daughter’s earnings.

According to police sources, villagers would often mock Deepak, accusing him of living off Radhika’s income from her tennis career and academy. The situation escalated further after a music video featuring Radhika began circulating online. Though the video was cited in public discussions, police maintain that the core issue was a deep-seated resentment over Radhika’s financial independence and public recognition.

Confession and Arrest

Deepak Yadav was arrested on the spot after the incident and has confessed to the crime, admitting during interrogation that he could no longer tolerate the “taunts” he faced about his daughter’s success. The FIR was filed by Radhika’s uncle. Her mother, who was present in the house at the time, initially mistook the sound of gunshots for a pressure cooker blast and reportedly declined to give a formal statement, citing illness.

The weapon used in the murder has been recovered and sent for forensic examination. Gurugram Police Commissioner and senior officials have assured a swift investigation and stringent action.
