SRINAGAR : Top intelligence sources have confirmed to The New Indian that ten family members of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) leader Masood Azhar — including his sister and brother-in-law — were killed in precise Indian military strikes inside Bahawalpur, Pakistan, early Wednesday. The strikes were launched as a retaliatory measure following the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 dead two weeks ago.

According to senior officials, the Indian armed forces carried out coordinated hits on terror hubs across Pakistan’s Punjab province and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Specifically, four key targets were eliminated in Punjab, while five were destroyed in PoK.

Among the major sites targeted were Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, linked to JeM; Markaz Taiba in Muridke, connected to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT); Sarjal in Tehra Kalan, another JeM operational base; Mehmoona Joya in Sialkot, a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) camp; and Markaz Ahle Hadith in Barnala, affiliated with LeT. Additional hits included Markaz Abbas (JeM) and Maskar Raheel Shahid (HM) in Kotli, as well as Shawai Nalla Camp (LeT) and Syedna Bilal Camp (JeM) in Muzaffarabad.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh led a detailed government briefing after the strikes, codenamed Operation Sindoor. Officials stressed that the targets were selected using verified intelligence based on their direct involvement in cross-border terrorism against India. Importantly, the operation deliberately avoided any Pakistani military installations.

The government also revealed that investigations into the Pahalgam attack had confirmed Pakistan’s role, identifying both the attackers and masterminds behind the deadly assault.

The decisive strikes under Operation Sindoor signal a powerful message: India will hold accountable those who orchestrate terror on its soil.
