Industrialists and trade associations met Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, seeking his intervention in reopening traffic at the Shambhu border

New Delhi – A delegation of industrialists and trade associations met Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, seeking his intervention in reopening traffic at the Shambhu border, which has been blocked due to the ongoing farmers’ agitation.

The industrialists expressed concerns that Punjab, being a landlocked state, is facing disruptions in business operations due to the blockade.

Mann assured them that the state government is committed to supporting industrial growth.

“The state government is duty-bound to safeguard the interests of the industrialists by resolving all the problems faced by them,” he said.

He emphasized that Punjab is working to create a business-friendly environment, adding, “We are leaving no stone unturned to give impetus to industry and commerce in Punjab.”

The Chief Minister also highlighted recent industrial investments, stating, “Due to strenuous efforts of the Punjab government, so far investments worth around Rs 94,000 crore have been firmed up in the state in the last three years.”

Companies like Tata Steel and Sanatan Textiles have shown interest in Punjab due to its favorable infrastructure and skilled workforce, he added.

Mann assured the delegation that he would personally discuss their concerns with the Union and Haryana governments to ensure smooth business operations.

“The state government is always open for new ideas and innovations to boost industrial growth,” he said, reaffirming Punjab’s goal of becoming a leading industrial hub.

The meeting was attended by various industry leaders, including Narinder Singh Saggu, Gursharan Singh, and several others, alongside Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board Advisor Deepak Bali.
