Nine Strategic Targets Identified

According to official sources, the nine terror camps targeted in the operation include:

  1. Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur – Affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), this facility has been instrumental in training and indoctrination activities.
  2. Markaz Taiba, Muridke – The primary base of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), known for its role in orchestrating the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
  3. Sarjal, Tehra Kalan – A JeM-operated camp involved in coordinating cross-border infiltration.
  4. Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot – Associated with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), this camp has served as a logistical hub.
  5. Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala – An LeT facility used for recruitment and training purposes.
  6. Markaz Abbas, Kotli – A JeM stronghold, strategically located near military installations.
  7. Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli – An HM camp specializing in guerrilla warfare tactics.
  8. Shawai Nalla Camp, Muzaffarabad – An LeT base facilitating infiltration routes into Jammu and Kashmir.
  9. Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad – A JeM facility involved in planning and executing terror operations.

These sites were identified as operational hubs for terrorist organizations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen. The selection was based on actionable intelligence linking these locations to recent and planned terrorist activities against India.

Operation Sindoor commenced in the early hours of May 7, with IAF deploying Rafale jets equipped with SCALP missiles and AASM Hammer bombs. The entire operation spanned approximately 23 minutes, focusing exclusively on terrorist infrastructure while avoiding civilian and Pakistani military installations.

The Ministry of Defence emphasized the operation’s “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” nature, underscoring India’s commitment to counter-terrorism while maintaining regional stability.

Initial assessments indicate that over 106 terrorists were eliminated in the strikes, significantly impairing the operational capabilities of the targeted groups. However, the government has stated that Operation Sindoor is still underway, making it challenging to provide an exact casualty count at this stage.

Pakistan’s Response and International Reactions

In the aftermath of the strikes, Pakistan condemned the operation as a violation of its sovereignty, reporting civilian casualties and infrastructural damage. The Pakistani military claimed to have downed several Indian aircraft, a claim that India has not corroborated.

The international community has expressed concern over the escalating tensions, urging both nations to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to prevent further deterioration of regional stability.

India’s Stance on Further Action

According to government sources, India has no intention of initiating further military action unless provoked by Pakistan. The focus remains on dismantling terrorist networks that pose a direct threat to national security, with a clear message that any future provocations will be met with decisive responses.
