NEW DELHI: General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), engaged with students and faculty of Softvision College & Research Institute, Indore, emphasizing the role of youth in shaping Indiaโs future. His address highlighted the significance of education, innovation, and national security in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
During his interaction, General Dwivedi highlighted education as a continuous journey of growth, knowledge, and service. Stressing the Indian philosophy of โVidyaโโwhich promotes righteous living, duty, and social contributionโhe encouraged students to think critically, challenge conventional ideas, and drive meaningful change.

โThe aspirations of a rising India rest on your knowledge, innovation, and determination,โ he stated, urging students to adopt a mindset of perseverance and passion. He called on the youth to become facilitators of technological, economic, and social progress, positioning themselves as key contributors to Indiaโs transformation.
Technology, Security, and the Whole-of-Nation Approach
Discussing national security, the COAS elaborated on the Indian Armyโs โDecade of Transformationโ initiative, focused on modernisation and the integration of advanced technologies.
โNational security is a โWhole-of-Nation Effortโ โ war is not fought by the military alone. Space warriors, cyber warriors, and information warriors play an equally vital role,โ General Dwivedi remarked. He encouraged students to actively contribute to defence research and innovation, highlighting the Armyโs Technological Battalions initiative as a major step towards achieving self-reliance in defence capabilities.
Youth as Change Leaders of Transformation
General Dwivedi inspired students to adopt leadership roles and embrace social responsibility. He encouraged them to be proactive change agents, stating, โTrue leaders question, innovate, and challenge convention. Progress is built on fresh ideas and the courage to break barriers.โ
Outlining key leadership principles, he introduced the โ2Cs, 3As, and 3Tsโ framework:
- Commitment & Communication โ Crucial for success and trust-building.
- Attitude, Adaptability & Ability โ The foundation of resilience and excellence.
- Truth, Trust & Transparency โ Essential for credibility and effective leadership.

โOur nation is brimming with opportunities,โ he concluded. โThe synergy between Indiaโs youth and the Indian Army will be the driving force behind a progressive, self-reliant, and globally respected India. Aim high, seize challenges, and lead the way towards Viksit Bharat 2047.โ
