Yamuna to Varanasi, para cop who made Rs 6 cr assets in CBI net

CBI has lodged an FIR against 73 foreign medical graduates and 14 state medical councils

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) booked a Commandant of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who allegedly amassed disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 5.61 crore from Noida to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

The CBI also carried out searches at several locations in Delhi and UP in connection with the case.

CBI spokesperson RC Joshi in a statement said that the agency booked Neeraj Kumar Pandey, a Commandant of CRPF currently posted in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on the allegations of acquisition or possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of approximately Rs.5.61 Crore, 108 percent of his income.

The CBI official said that after booking the CRPF officer, the agency sleuths carried out searches at multiple locations in Lucknow, Noida, Mirzapur, and Delhi.

“During searches, investments in immovable properties at Ranchi, Varanasi, Noida, and Yamuna Expressway worth Rs.4.6 crore in the name of the accused and his family members, deposits to the tune of Rs.1.02 crore in the bank accounts were found.

The official said that the CBI also found transactions of money worth Rs. 6.18 crore in the bank account of Pandey’s family members and companies controlled by them.

He said that various documents related to the acquisition of movable or immovable assets including jewelry, purchase of shares, etc. worth crores were also found during the searches.

The CBI in the last few years has registered several cases against senior officers in Uttar Pradesh in alleged disproportionate assets cases and made several arrests.
