LUCKNOW: Only our democratic India has the power to meet the parameters of a trustworthy partner that the world is looking for today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said as he laid the foundation stone of 1406 projects worth Rs 80,000 crore at the third UP Investors Summit here on Friday.

The projects of which the foundation stone was laid encompass sectors like Agriculture, IT and Electronics, MSME, Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Pharma, Tourism, Defence & Aerospace, Handloom and Textiles, as per the prime minister’s office (PMO).

Speaking at the summit’s groundbreaking ceremony attended by top industrialists of the country, PM Modi said, “Today the world is looking at India’s potential as well as appreciating India’s performance.”

He thanked the investors for demonstrating faith in the capability, dedication, hard work and understanding of the youth of Uttar Pradesh, adding that the investment proposals made at the summit will create new possibilities in the state.

“It reflects the growing confidence in the growth story of Uttar Pradesh,” he told the audience.

Exhorting industrialists to invest more in Uttar Pradesh, the prime minister said the youth of the state has the potential to give wings to their dreams and resolutions. “For faster growth of Uttar Pradesh, our double engine government is working together on infrastructure, investment and manufacturing,” he added.

India is the fastest-growing economy among G20 countries and at number two in the Global Retail Index, he informed.

“India is the third-largest energy consumer country in the world. Last year, a record FDI of USD 84 billion came from more than 100 countries of the world. India has created a new record by exporting merchandise worth more than USD417 billion in the last financial year,” PM Modi stated.

Lauding the startup ecosystem, he said there were only a few startups in the country before 2014 when he assumed the office. “Today, this number has crossed 70,000.”

He also asked the industrialists to visit Kashi. “As a representative of Kashi, I would urge you to visit my Kashi. Fact that Kashi, along with its ancient glory can emerge into a new version of itself, is a living example of the capabilities of Uttar Pradesh,” he added.
