NEW DELHI: Several voters on Wednesday told The New Indian team that was present at Sarvodya Kanya Vidhyala, one of the polling stations in bustling Rajouri Garden, that they have voted for change to end the saffron drought as there was no development by the sitting AAP legislator in their constituency.
AAP had given ticket to incumbent MLA Dhanwati Chandela for the same.
Dharmpal Chandela is contesting polls on a Congress ticket.
Ramesh Khanna, president of Rajouri Garden market, cited pollution, infrastructure, contaminated water, crime and corruption as a litany of complaints grievances for AAP’s decimal campaign and performance during the last 12 years.
Rajouri Garden Market general secretary Ajay Sharma, spoke with frustration for the current AAP MLA Dhanwati Chandela.
He said, “We have not seen her in the last five years for once. She will face defeat by 30,000 votes, whereas Manjinder Singh who had already been the MLA from here has done well before, he has installed direct water pumping systems and promised.”
Another youth came forward to speak on the same.
He remarks, “Even as an MLA she had no connection with the local people I am so shocked that she did not even bother to do campaigning also as she already knows she has no chance here this time. It is a posh area but has lost its value, we want to regain it with the help of Sirsa ji, he is a proper leader and he is going to sweep this election and in the next elections he will not campaign, we will campaign for him.”
Soniya Katiyal, who is a resident from Rajouri C block, added, “I was the first one to vote, I got a certificate too, cleanliness, security and water are the major problems, we are purchasing Bisleri regularly. I believe Modi ji completely and I am dead sure BJP is going to win”.
Shappoo Kohli, Senior Resident from Rajouri showed his disappointment with the AAP govt. Stating, “Most of the AAP members had been out on Bail due to corruption, what else do we need as proof that we require a definite change? People from Gujarat are really happy with BJP, there might be a certain reason regarding the same”.
Manish Mahajan, resident and member of the market committee of the main Rajouri Market area.
“We have been tolerating the smelly contaminated area, small vendors have been invading the market illegally, due to which parking problems have erupted. In the whole year, our child is not able to go to school due to pollution at certain times. During the tenure of Manjinder Sirsa and Ajay Makan, we were happy, that Chandela Madam hasn’t come to solve our issues,” said Mahajan.
