TASMAC raids spark political storm in Tamil Nadu

Chennai witnessed a political storm as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) uncovered alleged irregularities within TASMAC, prompting a BJP protest outside its headquarters. BJP leaders K. Annamalai and Tamilisai Soundararajan were detained by police, while Tamil Nadu’s Excise Minister Senthil Balaji refuted the ₹1,000 crore corruption claims, calling them baseless. The ED’s investigation revealed manipulated tenders and unaccounted cash transactions tied to distillery firms.
