Students from SGT university shine at IAPHD Event

GURUGRAM: Students from the Faculty of Dental Sciences of SGT University, Gurugram won several awards and most of their submissions were greatly applauded in the 25th IAPHD National Conference (Virtual) organized by the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry (IAPHD), said Dr Anil Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences.

The conference was organised from November 19 to 21 with a preconference on November 18 with the Theme: Redefining dental public health competencies in India.

Series of lectures, panel discussions and scientific paper/poster presentations covering wide area of public health dentistry were the highlights of the conference to enrich participants with new skills and competencies.

The association also invited BDS undergraduates to attend the sessions and participate in different kinds of scientific competition on the day of preconference.

Dr. Shourya Tandon, Prof and Head Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University successfully fulfilled the responsibilities as Scientific Co-Chairman in the conference.

Dr. Meenakshi Chopra, Reader; Dr. Charu Khurana, Senior Lecturer and Dr. Abhinav Bhargava, Senior Lecturer chaired different scientific sessions.

From the department, all the postgraduate students and faculty members actively participated and also presented their research work.

For the preconference, 22 BDS undergraduates including final year students and interns attended sessions and also submitted their entries for scientific competitions.

All the submissions were applauded and department won several awards in both undergraduate and postgraduate categories.

Dr. Prerna, 3rd Year postgraduate student won the Best Scientific Paper presentation award on the study entitled “Content analysis of oral and general health related messages delivered through newspapers in Delhi”.

Undergraduates from the SGT University were awarded with prizes in almost all kinds of scientific competition- general poster, Short film making, Table Clinic and Mannequin Challenge.

Among the undergraduate students, Elakshi, Udita, Anshu and Anshula were awarded for best general poster, Geetika, Lokesh, Deepanshi, Nikita, Swati and Sneha for short film, Neha Goel and Atibha Mukhija for table clinic and Avi, Elakshi, Lakshay, Vidhi, Bobby, Tejas and Komal for mannequin challenge.

Dr Tandon congratulated all the winners and participants from the department for academic awards and all in all a rich scientific experience.
