Stop Using Punjab Police To Settle Political Scores: BJP’s Tarun Chugh Warns AAP

NEW DELHI: BJP national general secretary, Tarun Chugh, has taken strong exception to the manner in which the BJP leaders in other states were being booked by the Punjab Police on the instructions of AAP chief minister Bhagwant Mann.

Chugh said that 3 such cases were registered against the BJP leaders in Delhi and Maharashtra, a clear indication of how AAP planned to use the state police to settle political scores.

He strongly condemned the manner in which a case was registered against a Delhi-based BJP leader, Naveen Kumar, early this week for allegedly doctoring a video clip of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. The video clip was posted on April 6 with a disclaimer, but regardless, the Punjab Police filed a case on the complaint of Gurbhej Singh, who works for the legal cell of AAP.

AAP’s vendetta first came to light in Maharashtra, when the Punjab Police registered a case against a BJP activist in the state for tweeting about the removal of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s picture in the chief minister’s office. The complaint was lodged by an AAP Mohali district office-bearer in the cyber cell of the state police.

Similarly, the cyber cell of the Punjab Police recently booked a BJP youth activist, TP Singh Bagga, who had reportedly led the agitation against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the context of his comments on the film, Kashmir Files.

Chugh condemned the AAP’s motives to politicise the state police force and warned it against using it in other states to settle political scores.
