New Delhi: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh successfully arrested Gufran alias Chhangu, a wanted criminal with a reward of ₹50,000, from Pratapgarh. The arrest took place near Kaliana Nahar Pulia in Patti police station area on June 30, 2025, around 11:40 AM.
Gufran, son of Abad Ali alias Aulad, a resident of Khampur under Dilippur police station, was wanted in connection with Case No. 179/2025 registered under sections 191(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 61(2), 109(1), and 351(3) of BNS and Section 7 of the CLA Act. The case was filed based on a complaint by Altaf Ahmad, accusing Gufran and his associates of assault and verbal abuse on June 17, 2025, in Patti.
Acting on a tip-off, an STF team led by Inspector Jay Prakash Rai, under the supervision of Dy. SP Shailesh Pratap Singh, raided the location and apprehended Gufran while he was attempting to flee. During interrogation, Gufran admitted to his involvement in the crime and revealed that he had been evading arrest since the incident.
The STF had been actively tracking fugitives involved in criminal activities across the state. This arrest marks a significant achievement in their ongoing efforts to curb crime. Further legal proceedings are underway.
