SRINAGAR: In a  crackdown, Srinagar Police carried out wide-ranging searches at numerous locations throughout the city, targeting the residences of individuals identified as Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and collaborators of banned terror organizations.

 

These actions were part of ongoing investigations linked to cases filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

 

According to a senior police official โ€œSrinagar Police continuing its campaign to break the support structures aiding terrorism, executed coordinated raids across various city sectors. The operations focused on properties belonging to OGWs and terror accomplices implicated in offenses under the UAPA.โ€

 

Police authorities conducted raids at the homes of Furkan Farooq Mir, son of Farooq Mir, and Faizyab Showkat Deewani, son of Showkat Deewani โ€” both inhabitants of Dalal Mohalla. They are involved in Case FIR No. 35/2022 registered under Sections 13, 18, 20, 23, and 39 of UAPA along with Section 07/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station MR Gunj.

 

Additionally, searches targeted the residence of Zubair Gull, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, located in Tengpora Zoonimar. His name figures in Case FIR No. 08/2023 under Sections 307 and 427 of the IPC, Sections 7/27 of the Indian Arms Act, and Sections 13 and 16 of the UAPA, filed at Police Station Sangam.

 

The police also inspected the premises of Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, son of Ghulam Mohammad, residing in Malik Sahib, Safakadal, in relation to Case FIR No. 128/2010, lodged under Section 13 of UAPA at Police Station Safakadal.

 

Further, the crackdown included properties linked to Syed Ahmad Parimoo, son of the late Mohammad Abdullah Parimoo, from Mumkhan Mohalla, Badamwari, Rainawari (associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba), and Dawood Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Nabi Wani, resident of Kaw Mohalla, Khanyar (also linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba). Both are under investigation in Case FIR No. 48/2024, filed under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 13, 16, 19, 20, and 39 of the UAPA at Police Station Khanyar.
