Sidhu Moosewala’s mother expecting another child at 58, due in March

Sidhu Moosewala died at the age of 28.

NEW DELHI: Late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s parents are expecting another child, sources close to the family have revealed. It has been confirmed by family insiders to Tribune that Sidhu’s mother, Charan Singh, underwent IVF treatment, which resulted in a successful conception. The new addition to the family is expected in March. Sidhu had been the couple’s only child before his tragic death in May 2022.

It’s been reported that Charan Singh is now 58 years old. In 2022, when she filed an affidavit as a covering candidate for Sidhu’s electoral bid in Mansa, she stated her age as 56. Presently, she is receiving medical treatment.

In May 2022, Sidhu Moosewala was fatally shot in Punjab’s Mansa district. According to reports, six assailants opened fire on him while he, accompanied by his cousin and friend, was travelling in a jeep to Jawaharke village in Mansa, which is approximately 10 kilometres from the singer’s hometown of Moosa.

The Punjab Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently investigating his death. The team has filed a chargesheet against 32 people, which includes gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.

A candlelight vigil was organised in Mansa to commemorate Sidhu’s life. A huge turnout of the late singer’s fans and advocates assembled in Moosa village to partake in the vigil, advocating for “justice” on his behalf. Sidhu’s mother was also present at the event. A prayer ceremony was also conducted at a gurdwara in Jawahar Ke village to honour the memory of the late singer.

In 2022, Diljit Dosanjh expressed concern for Moosewala’s parents, acknowledging the pain they must be enduring following their son’s tragic demise. He also highlighted the unfortunate history of artists facing violence in the past. However, he predominantly attributed the responsibility to the government, criticising their perceived negligence.

In an interview with Film Companion, Diljit addressed the passing of Moosewala and Deep Sidhu (who died in a car accident). He remarked, “All of them worked hard. I don’t think an artiste can do anything wrong to anyone, I am talking about my own experience. Mujhe ye manne mein nahi aati baat (I don’t agree with it).

“There could be nothing between him and someone else. So why would anyone kill someone else? This is a very sad thing. Even talking about it is so difficult. Think about it, you have just one child and he dies. His father and mother, how would they be living with it? You cannot imagine what they are going through, only they know it.”

The singer-turned-politician gained prominence for his hit tracks including “So High,” “Same Beef,” “The Last Ride,” “Just Listen,” and “295,” alongside numerous other chart-toppers.
