NEW DELHI: Hockey India congratulated goalkeeper Savita Punia on Savita Punia’s 300th International Cap. She reached this milestone during India’s match against the Netherlands in the FIH Hockey Pro League, marking Savita Punia’s 300th International Cap.

 

Savita Punia’s 300th International Cap makes her only the second Indian woman to achieve this feat. She joins Vandana Katariya in this elite club. Among goalkeepers, she follows PR Sreejesh, the only other Indian to do so.

 

She made her senior debut at 20. Over the years, she became one of the finest goalkeepers in the world.

 

Her performances were key in India’s fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics. She also played in the Rio Olympics and the 2018 World Cup.

A Leader on and off the Field

 

As captain, she led India to a bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Under her leadership, India won the FIH Nations Cup and back-to-back Asian Champions Trophy titles in 2023 and 2024.
