NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) formally inaugurated its centenary celebrations today with the opening session of a three-day Vyakhyanmala (lecture series) at Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi.

Delivering the inaugural lecture on the theme “100 Years of Sangh Yatra – New Horizons”, RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat reflected on the organization’s century-long journey and its vision for India’s future.

Extending greetings on Gudi Padwa, the Hindu New Year, Dr. Bhagwat began his address by invoking Swami Vivekananda’s words: “Every nation has a mission.” He emphasized that India’s mission is rooted in unity, service, and the pursuit of a harmonious society.

“Apna desh hai, uski jai-jaikar honi chahiye,” Bhagwat said, underlining the importance of national pride.

He stressed that the Sangh has no hidden agenda and operates transparently for the welfare of society, working to build character, strengthen national unity, and eliminate social discrimination. Highlighting the Sangh’s growth over 100 years, he described it as a movement of selfless service that seeks no personal gain.

“If only soldiers fight, the work will not be complete. Society must also stand together,” he remarked, recalling the vision that inspired India’s freedom struggle after 1857.

The RSS chief also outlined the importance of the next century of Sangh’s journey, stating that its mission is to build a strong, prosperous, and inclusive India based on mutual respect, social harmony, and civic responsibility.

The centenary lecture series will run for three days, with Dr. Bhagwat addressing each session, focusing on the Sangh’s history, philosophy, and roadmap for the future. The event has drawn wide participation, including academicians, diplomats, social leaders, and representatives of various organizations, as part of a broader nationwide outreach to mark 100 years of the RSS.
