RSS Kicks Off Centenary Celebrations with Bhagwat's Call for National Unity

Summary

The RSS launched its centenary celebrations in Delhi. Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat emphasized national pride, unity, and collective responsibility for India’s progress. He linked the Sangh’s mission to Swami Vivekananda’s vision, promoting service, harmony, and character-building, while also stressing the need for societal participation in nation-building.

NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today formally launched its centenary celebrations at Vigyan Bhavan in the capital, with Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat delivering the inaugural address of a three-day lecture series titled “100 Years of Sangh Yatra – New Horizons.”

In his speech, Dr. Bhagwat underlined the importance of national pride and unity, urging citizens to see India’s progress as a collective responsibility.

“Apna desh hai, uski jai-jaikar honi chahiye,” he said, stressing that the country’s achievements and spirit must always be celebrated.

Quoting Swami Vivekananda, Bhagwat reminded the audience that “every nation has a mission.” He linked this philosophy to the Sangh’s own journey, describing it as a movement dedicated to service, social harmony, and character-building.

Reflecting on India’s struggle for freedom, he said:

“After 1857’s defeat, a vision arose — to try again and win freedom. That vision is ours today: the vision of nationalism.”

He further emphasized that building a strong nation requires societal participation alongside military strength.

“If only soldiers fight, it won’t work — we all must stand together,” he added.

The RSS chief also invoked the legacies of Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Swami Vivekananda, praising their contributions to India’s spiritual and cultural awakening. He said India continues to draw eternal inspiration from their vision, values, and mission for the nation.

The three-day Vyakhyanmala marks the beginning of year-long nationwide programs as the RSS enters its centenary year, highlighting its role in fostering unity and shaping India’s future.
