NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Tuesday formally inaugurated its centenary celebrations with the launch of a three-day lecture series at Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi. The event, titled “100 Years of Sangh Yatra – New Horizons,” was opened with an address by RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, who reflected on the organization’s journey and vision for the nation’s future.

Extending greetings on the occasion, Dr. Bhagwat said:

“Apna desh hai, uski jai-jaikar honi chahiye.”

Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he noted that “every nation has a mission,” adding that India’s mission is to advance as a strong, united, and self-reliant country.

Referring to India’s freedom struggle, Bhagwat recalled the determination that arose after the 1857 uprising:

“After 1857’s defeat, a vision arose — to try again & win freedom. That vision is ours today: the vision of nationalism.”

He underlined that building a prosperous and secure India requires active involvement from society at large.

“If only soldiers fight, it won’t work — we all must stand together,” he remarked.

Dr. Bhagwat also paid tribute to Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Swami Vivekananda, saying that India continues to draw eternal inspiration from their vision, values, and mission for the nation.

The RSS centenary programme will include a nationwide outreach campaign, with lectures, discussions, and cultural initiatives aimed at engaging diverse sections of society. The Delhi series will run for three days, with Dr. Bhagwat delivering a set of addresses on the Sangh’s history, philosophy, and roadmap for the future.
