Raise Slogans Only For Rajiv Gandhi, Ashok Gehlot: Raj CM’s Advisor

Advisor to Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Babulal Nagar speaking at a programme in Dudu.

In a bizarre incident in Dudu, about 60 km from Rajasthan’s capital city of Jaipur, Babulal Nagar, an advisor to Chief minister Ashok Gehlot, asked the Congress supporters to raise only two slogans – Rajiv Gandhi Amar Rahein and Ashok Gehlot Zindabad.

The former Congressman, who was expelled from the party, allegedly threatened that those who raised any other slogan would be put behind bars.

The incident happened just before the arrival of CM Gehlot for the inauguration of the Block Level Rural Olympic Sports Competition. Gehlot also laid the foundation stones for many developmental works in the area.

In a video that went viral on social media, Nagar was seen warning the public to raise only two slogans – ‘Rajiv Gandhi Amar Rahen’ and ‘Ashok Gehlot Zindabad’. “Any third slogan will not be acceptable. If you want to raise the third slogan, you can get up and go. All you have to do is clap on just two slogans,” Nagar said.

Nagar has been close to CM Gehlot from the beginning. He was the Food and Supply minister in Gehlot’s previous government. In 2013, he was expelled from the party following rape allegations by a woman. However, Nagar was cleared of the charges. After his acquittal, Nagar said that it was a political conspiracy.

Reacting to the video of the Dudu incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Satish Poonia tweeted, “Preventing from chanting slogans. Either a shortage of slogans or supporters.”
