Mood in UP After Expressway Launch: No Takers For Rahul, Some Back Akhilesh, Most For Modi & Yogi

SULTANPUR: The 341-km Purvanchal expressway, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 22,500 crore, was abuzz with the cheers of people and roars of different aircraft as Sukhois and Mirages thundered with low-fly movement in skies over farm fields on Tuesday.

The ambitious 341-km Purvanchal expressway originates from Chand sarai village on the Lucknow-Sultanpur highway and will pass through Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau to finally terminate at Haldaria village in Ghazipur district.

The team of The New Indian spoke to the people in Chand Sarai to know how they feel about it and when asked about if BJP government has focused on development of the area or was it a part of political gimmick. Vijay Kumar, a resident of Shankar Garh, Sultanpuri said that the government has focused on the development work and can’t be dubbed as a drama.

When asked about the issues raised by the previous government and present government, has there been a difference? Shivam Sharma, a resident of the same village opined “definitely the change has come, the roads were not as better as they are now. Now, people have footpaths as well as roads compared to previous times. It will also help us commute to another places.”

Satish Kumar Singh, a resident of Madhuvan, also lamented that the previous governments did not focus on Purvanchal as compared to this government and if they had paid some attention here then it would have been constructed long time ago.

Manish Gehar, a resident of Sultanpur, said Rahul Gandhi did nothing for Amethi, from where the six-lane expressway is set to pass. “Not even a single road was constructed under his tenure as an MP and if he was not able to help Amethi and develop it then how will he be able to handle whole of Uttar Pradesh.

No other political party would be able to win against Yogi Adityanath, he added.
